Staying on top of the latest trends in the outdoor space can be challenging. Many manufacturers are constantly innovating and creating new designs with new materials and it's not always easy to keep an eye on every new prodcut and trend.
We attended Casual Market Atlanta last week and had the opportunity to see the latest products in outdoor living. We summarized our key findings in this blog to help you get in the loop of the latest trends!
Materials
Natural Wood: Natural wood remains extremely popular and we saw teak in many showrooms. Chairs, tables, accessories, and everything in between was incorporating the warm colored wood. The Outdoor GreatRoom Company's Uptown Iroko (below left) and Darien (below right) fire tables both incorporate a wood look that fits in seamlessly with teak furniture.
Poly: Poly wood remains a staple in outdoor living rooms. This durable, recycled plastic wood-look material is durable, extremely customizable, and heavily desired by consumers across the country. Our new Uptown Coastal Grey (below) features our first ever foray into poly with a Coastal Grey poly wood and Supercast™ concrete top paired with black aluminum base.
Rope/Cord: This is a trend we have seen building among several manufacturers. The use of rope/cord was most popular in chairs and sofas and often in shades gray or tan. We're following this trend closely to see how it continues to evolve. Here's an example from Brown Jordan's Oscar Collection. Rope chairs pair well with fire pits in our Beacon Collection, Cove Collection, and the Havenwood Pebble Grey.
Colors
Earth tones: Earth tone colors might be one of the fastest growing trends in the outdoor space. Browns and tans have skyrocketed in the indoor furniture space and we're seeing that beginning to leak into the outdoor space. We're keeping this front of mind as we design new products. Our Brooks/Kenwood Collection, Beacon Collection, Stonefire Collection, Havenwood Collection, and Denali Brew (below) all feature fire tables using browns and other earth tones.
Seashell: Much like earth tones, Seashell is another fast riser among the colors of outdoor furniture. It's is a lighter shade of tan or as some may even call it "off-white." It has tints of browns and yellows creating a warm, cozy feeling.
Grey/Gray: While browns, earth tones, and off-whites continue to rise, grey still remains a very popular color in the casual space due to its ability to match almost any outdoor aesthetic. Grey is a popular color in the OGC product portfolio with many our fire tables using grey in some way including the Uptown Coastal Grey, Havenwood Collection, Cove Collection (Edge in Midnight Mist below), Stonefire Collection, Cedar Ridge, and many others!
Styles
Lines: As noted in this recap from Casual News Now, "Modern, straight lines are increasingly being replaced by fluid curves that offer less perfection and more natural beauty."
Wicker: A staple in the outdoor space is evolving. New trends use brown tone wicker in seating and tables. This texture adds depth and dimension to the furniture. Check out our Montego gas fire pit (below) for a classic wicker look.
