How Are Gas Fire Pits Made?

Since gas fire pit tables are becoming a popular addition to backyard areas everywhere, it is important to learn about the various products to choose from and what makes them stand out from the rest. Enjoy this quick and educational read on how our USA-made gas fire pits are produced from start to finish. You might be surprised on what you learn!

Designing a Gas Fire Pit Table

Before a new product is introduced and ready for production, a development phase occurs to ensure the gas fire pit looks great and operates efficiently. The time it takes to finally launch a new fire feature varies depending on the specification of the design, necessary materials, and structural needs of the table. The product highlighted in this blog will be our Stainless-Steel Key Largo Gas Fire Pit Table, which features a stainless-steel trim top, Black Fleck stucco base, and 42-inch Crystal Fire® Plus burner.

Laying a Foundation

The journey of creating a Stainless-Steel Key Largo fire table begins with building a strong foundation. While avid project-goers may spend hours planning, measuring, and cutting the correct dimensions by hand, the OGC uses state-of-the-art equipment to precisely construct a durable frame in a matter of minutes. The base, which will eventually hold a beautiful top and Crystal Fire® Plus burner, uses materials made to withstand even the harshest temperatures. Marine-grade galvanized steel and Hardiebacker® cement board is used in a process of roll forming and waterjet cutting to create a strong and reliable frame.

Painting a Picture

After a sturdy frame has been put together, the next step in creating the Stainless-Steel Key Largo fire table is applying stucco to the four sides of the cement boarding. Stucco is a waterproof, long-lasting construction material made of aggregates, a binder, and water. The decorative coating of stucco is truly an art form, as it is very difficult to maintain a consistent texture and shape when applying it to the base of a propane fire pit. Each gas fire pit base that incorporates stucco is applied by hand by one of our stucco specialists. The individual handiwork done on our tables create a variation of texture and color that make each one truly one-of-a-kind.

Creating a Flame

Burner assembly is the next step in making a gas fire pit table equipped for liquid propane or natural gas. A thermocouple, valve and burner orifice, and ground wire are just a few of the parts that make up our Crystal Fire® Plus Burners. Burners are assembled and tested with intensive care to ensure each one meets the UL safety standard and puts out a reliable and high-quality flame. After the wiring, tightening, and burner testing is done, burners are ready for the next step in building a gas fire pit‚Äîpackaging and shipment.

Handled with Care

While the journey of creating this beautiful fire pit is coming to an end, heartwarming memories created around the fire are about to begin. Once the necessary steps of framing, stuccoing, and burner assembly are complete, each piece, along with the stainless-steel trim top, is individually packaged and wrapped together on a pallet for shipment to its future home. Deliveries are made across the globe and around the clock as eager homeowners look to spice up their outdoor living area.
